getting to turkey and getting around bodrum
CAR HIRE
We can arrange car hire for you. The car can either be waiting at Bodrum Airport when you arrive, or you can have it delivered direct to your holiday villa/apartment. A 4 door basic model which can take 5 passengers, is around £30-35 a day including all insurances. Cars in Turkey are very expensive therefore most hire cars in the area are more basic than those we may be used to at home, but they do the job!
TAXI'S ON THE BODRUM PENINSULA
Once at your holiday home, you can find taxi ranks in the centre of most villages and towns to take you to/from your chosen destination.
Again, the drivers may not speak English or know the locations
TOURIST VISA FOR TURKEY
No longer required for guests from the UK and most European countries (February 2023).
Always check from your own country whether or not a Visa is required for stays in Turkey. Maximum stay, without a Resident Permit is 90 days

ROADS & DRIVING AROUND
The main road from the Airport to Bodrum town is the D330, a dual carriageway. All of the towns and villages are approximately 10 to 15 minutes from each other, therefore easy to reach.
Once off the D330 and heading towards Yalikavak, and Gundogan for example, the connecting roads become minor roads which can be ‘interesting’ in places if small pot holes have not been repaired. Bodrum life is laid back and relaxed, the ‘village’ road terrain often is evidence of the relaxed way of life
AIRPORTS
Bodrum Milas International Airport is the nearest airport and is a quick 45 minute drive to most of the Peninsula towns.
Flights from the UK, Europe and other countries fly direct to Bodrum whereas some international carriers fly into Istanbul’s main airport, Istanbul Ataturk Airport. Istanbul also has a second airport, Sabiha Goken, both airports have regular internal/domestic flights down to Bodrum which take approximately 1 hour.
PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSFER
We can arrange private airport transfer for you. We have worked with a professional and fully licenced tour company since 2008 who transfer many of our guests to their holiday villas. Drivers know the location of the villas we rent which means no delays trying to find holiday homes.
A Bodrum airport taxi will cost similar but, the driver possibly will not speak English, neither will they know the villa locations … guests have been known to be driving around for hours because taxi drivers do not know how to find villas
PETROL & DIESEL
The Bodrum area is awash with petrol filling stations as you will see as you leave the Airport and head for the coast.
Most hire cars are empty when collected but a short distance after the airport is a filling station, these are usually manned and not self-service.
No matter which Peninsula town you stay at, there will always be a petrol station nearby
PUBLIC TRANSPORT - DOLMUS
This is the best and cheapest way to get around the Peninsula, fun too!
For a few TL (Turkish Lira) you can hop on a dolmus anywhere (hail them like a cab) and they will have you at your chosen destination in minutes.
They run from town to town frequently so ‘when in Rome’ … or Bodrum!
