Sometimes it is important to get what you want ... Orchid's beautifully designed interior and architect designed building will not disappoint. Orchid is a very stylish and contemporary designed and furnished 2 bedroom, 2 shower room apartment in the Geris area of Yalikavak with private sea-facing balcony and shaped shared swimming pool. Imagine trendy New York loft apartment style but with breathtaking valley and sea views, this IS Orchid.
Chic and fun, the developers intended to create a simple, calm style and therefore constructed these apartments (only 24 in total) akin to Mexican architecture design. This reveals bare interior concrete walls and white textured plaster painted surfaces which are traditional, unpretentious and minimalistic but also impressive and modern. Orchid is spacious, stylish and well equipped with a boutique feel. The private sea-facing balcony gets sun and shade and is the place to take in the views of the super yachts heading towards Palmarina and catch the breeze duirng balmy summer nights.
Living and Sleeping Space: Open plan lounge, kitchen and internal dining areas. 2 identical size and layout double bedrooms (can sleep up to 4) are accessed via several steps up from the living area, each has a shower room with wash basin/WC next to the bedroom either side.
Yalikavak is well known for its jet setters who visit the new marina, Palmarina, which has high end restaurants, cafe's, bars, brand name fashion boutiques, super yachts and even a night club etc. Good to visit and also people watch. Orchid is approx 5 mins drive to the Marina

Geris (pronounced Gerish) itself is a sleepy little village situated in the hills above Yalıkavak and Gerisalti (Lower Geris). Yalikavak is known for the vast array of fish restaurants that hug the coastline. Geris village is approx 3km from Yalikavak (less than a 10 minute drive). Orchid apartment is a great location for the more discerning traveler who would like to experience traditional Turkish surroundings, hillside and sea views and be slightly away from the beach and resort itself, but in a smart modern property. Due to the elevation of the pool, it has barrier fences around the edges. It may not be suitable for young children under the age of 12.

The Turkish Aegean Coast Region
On the Bodrum Peninsula buildings are not permitted to be built more than 2 stories high, and there are no buildings higher than 3 stories in the whole Peninsula. This tends to make the area look particularly attractive. Most of the buildings are white washed cubes, similar to those in the Greek Islands. This is because this part of Turkey used to belong to Greece and some of the Greek Islands used to belong to Turkey. As you can imagine, there is a lot of history around the area.
History
Archaeological excavations have established that human habitation in the Yalikavak area began in around 2000BC, and there are ruins and artefacts from the Carian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman eras. The historic sites such as Sandima, Pasanda (Geris), Kandiba and Termil (Dirmil/Gökçebel) attract visitors from all over the world. Yalikavak is famous for the numerous windmills found in the vicinity. The winds, that until recently turned the vanes of these working windmills, now fill the sails of boats and windsurfs. Another “typical” feature found in abundance here are domed water cisterns which, in the past, were used in times of drought and are now being adapted for artistic and cultural uses.
A 20 minute road journey will take you to Bodrum Centre with its historic castle which was built from 1402 onwards, by the Knights of St John as the Castle of St. Peter or Petronium. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is also located in Bodrum town.
Ferry trips to the Greek island of Kos can be made from Turgutreis and Bodrum
Further afield you can visit Ephesus, the largest archaeological site in the world, the stunning pools at Pamukkale, the royal rock tombs at Dalyan, and the temple of Apollo at Didim.
Upper Geris
Geriş itself is a sleepy little village situated in the hills above Yalıkavak and Gerişaltı (Lower Geriş). Yalikavak is known for the vast array of fish restaurants that hug the coastline. Geris village is approx 3km from Yalikavak. Geris, with its 4,500-year history is one of the oldest settlements on the Bodrum Peninsula. Close to Yalikavak Peninsula Geris offers uninterrupted 360-degree views of the surrounding hillside and sea, perhaps the most beautiful place to watch the sunrise and sunset on the Bodrum Peninsula.
Yalikavak
Yalikavak's town centre has retained its traditional Turkish charm. With its simple but stylish laid back atmosphere and friendly welcoming locals, this is its main attraction and the reason why holidaymakers return to the area year after year. Along the coast road en-route from the villa to Yalikavak you will pass some of the best fish restaurants on the Bodrum Peninsula huddled together in their own 'fish restaurant village' area. A couple of minutes further on takes you to Yalikavak's fashionable new Marina (Palmarina) with super yachts, gullets and sail boats visiting from all around the world. The Marina is home to smart shops, bars, restaurants and a beach club which hosts open air concerts during high summer.
The centre of Bodrum is less than 20 minutes from here with its own smart Marina, town centre shops and, of course, the famous Bodrum Castle. Bodrum town has fabulous shops in the Marina area and also along the narrow streets of the old town near the Castle. At night, the Marina has open air live music starting at 10pm until the early hours nightly during high summer.
Yalikavak has supermarkets, banks, ATMs, Taxi ranks, bus station, petrol stations etc.
A car is advised for this location but not absolutely neccesary for those who want to get around by dolmus, taxi, walking. The dolmus (public transport minibus) runs from the village into town and along the main road from Yalikavak to Geris village.
Distances: Bodrum town is 20 mins; Yalikavak is less than 10 mins drive; Gumusluk fishing village and harbour restaurants are 10/15 mins drive in the opposite direction
Turgutreis is 20/25 mins drive : Nearest supermarket, in Yalikavak less than 10 min drive

Orchid apartment in Yalikavak was amazing...very modern and fantastic view. It requires having a car, although I'd recommend having a car in Bodrum in general. Carley was brilliant and was always available for any questions or information. Annie and the team are extremely professional and communication with them really made the trip easy to set up. Thanks to all of them for everything.

Orchid Apartment is an excellent stay to have a full grasp of what Yalikavak offers; a picture perfect view of the town and the marina, hills, weather, sunset, friendly locals and nature.
Enjoyed the modern but practical open plan of living room-kitchen-balcony-dining area a lot. Same applies to bathrooms and bedrooms.
We appreciated the friendly and very courteous correspondence (and help) of both local manager Carley, and Annie who was our initial contact.

First of all we want to say Annie Burnett at Peninsula Villas Bodrum and Hurdem are very friendly and helpful. We want to say a big thank you for all the help they have provided. Thank you so much!!!! Memorable view and very quiet place. The terrace provides amazing views over Yalikavak and the Marina. We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment - it was light, airy and had excellent outside space and lovely views. The apartments are really well equipped and very convenient. We liked the nice and smart design and felt as at home. The apartment is high up in the hills so I would recommend rent a car as it would be a fair walk down :) but you can use the dolmus!

Perfect, Absolutely Superb : August 2016
My 15 year old daughter and I stayed in the apartment for one week at the beginning of August. Orchid is absolutely superb, the location is beautiful, the apartment is better than the pictures, a lot of thought has gone into ensuring the apartment is comfortable, soft furnishing, loads of towels, quality kitchen equipment. The balcony doors open up fully to give an extended balcony which give a panoramic view of the breath-taking scenes outside. The pool is wonderful and is usually empty, it is clean as are the grounds and surrounding gardens. There are a few Turkish people in the neighbouring apartments who are very friendly. The booking experience given by Peninsula Villas (Annie) was first class, instructions were very clear and this gave me confidence that I was booking through a professional company. Upon arrival Hurdem provides the keys and local information, she is always on hand to help with any queries. After travelling to Yalikavak every year (apart from last year) since 2009 this is one of the best properties we have stayed in, we would certainly return to this apartment due to the location and privacy it has.

Amazing views over Yalikavak | August 2016
Just minutes drive to beautiful marina, local bars and restaurants. Amazing hillside views over Yalikavak. Personally i would not recommended for young children due to location. Require transport or taxi to reach nightlife. Area and people very very friendly and we made lots of friends. Third time to this resort ...love it lots and would definitely recommend it.
