On the Bodrum Peninsula buildings are not permitted to be built more than 2 stories high, and there are no buildings higher than 3 stories in the whole Peninsula. This tends to make the area look particularly attractive. Most of the buildings are white washed cubes, similar to those in the Greek Islands. This is because this part of Turkey used to belong to Greece and some of the Greek Islands used to belong to Turkey. As you can imagine, there is a lot of history around the area.

History
Archaeological excavations have established that human habitation in the Yalikavak area began in around 2000BC, and there are ruins and artefacts from the Carian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman eras. The historic sites such as Sandima, Pasanda (Geris), Kandiba and Termil (Dirmil/Gökçebel) attract visitors from all over the world. Yalikavak is famous for the numerous windmills found in the vicinity. The winds, that until recently turned the vanes of these working windmills, now fill the sails of boats and windsurfs. Another “typical” feature found in abundance here are domed water cisterns which, in the past, were used in times of drought and are now being adapted for artistic and cultural uses.

A 20 minute road journey will take you to Bodrum Centre with its historic castle which was built from 1402 onwards, by the Knights of St John as the Castle of St. Peter or Petronium. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is also located in Bodrum town.

Ferry trips to the Greek island of Kos can be made from Turgutreis and Bodrum
Further afield you can visit Ephesus, the largest archaeological site in the world, the stunning pools at Pamukkale, the royal rock tombs at Dalyan, and the temple of Apollo at Didim.

Yalikavak
Yalikavak, 18 km away from Bodrum centre on the North Western tip of the Bodrum Peninsula, has grown in size over recent years, but remains still very much a place where the locals welcome holidaymakers with open arms. The permanent inhabitants of Yalikavak number around 6,800 people. Yalikavak is becoming ever more popular as an alternative resort to Bodrum. The small harbour is surrounded by restaurants and bars, and while there is the occasional disco bar, the general atmosphere is quiet, unhurried and relaxed, yet further along the shoreline is a new sophisticated Marina.

Approaching Yalikavak from Bodrum you cannot help but notice the stunning panoramic view of Yalikavak Bay. This fertile coastal region is ideal for sailing and all water sports and attracts many foreign yachts to the Marina and old harbour that once sheltered mainly fishing boats.

FISHING & SEAFOOD
Yalikavak still supports a thriving fishing industry and the restaurants around the picturesque harbour and marina display a wide selection of fresh fish every day. The town is known for its excellent seafood restaurants - try Sait, you won't be disappointed.

RESTAURANTS
Yalikavak has a huge selection of restaurants to suit all tastes.

SHOPPING AND WEEKLY VENDOR'S MARKET
There are many shops in the traffic free centre, selling local wares and tourist items.

Every Thursday there is a colourful weekly market split in 2 halves. Clothes, textiles and traditional Turkish wares on one side, and the other with fruit, vegetables, great choices of olives, herbs and spices.

MARINA (Palmarina)
Just a few minutes walk along the shoreline from the centre of Yalikvak is the new Marina. The Marina is home to many large yachts and is visited by yachts from all over the world in summer. It has stylish shops and several restaurants and cafes, plus a seaside 2,500 seater Amphitheatre used for open air concerts and fashion shows during the summer months.
BEACHES
The main beach in Yalikavak is long and narrow and lined with a few restaurants. It is easy to sit back and not worry where your next drink or meal will come from! Yalikavak's beach is never busy and you won't be sandwiched in amongst sun loungers. Away from the harbour end of town, the quieter the beach becomes. Yalikavak is always said to be a little cooler in the summer than other parts of the region due to the gentle offshore breezes. Whereas Bodrum is hot, in all respects, in summer.

Yalikavak is renowned for its superb sunsets and unspoilt shoreline. Its sparkling clean sea is one of the few remaining abodes of the endangered “Monachus Monachus” Mediterranean seals and therefore a protected area. In 2002 Yalikavak Bay was awarded the "Blue Flag" for its clean waters.

Yalikavak has supermarkets, banks, ATMs, Taxi ranks, bus station, petrol stations etc.

A car is advised for this location but no absolutely necessary as Yalikavak is walkable and the dolmus (public transport minibus) runs along the road below the villa.

Return Visit with Peninsula Villas to Lazy Dayz : July 2022
We had a fab holiday in Lazy Dayz villa with Peninsula Villas. On the north-west of the Bodrum peninsula, the villa has a stunning view of Yalikavak bay with its superyacht marina and old harbour. This was our 2nd villa booked through Peninsula - our first visit was to Agean 220 villa, equally gorgeous! Annie and Marion are friendly, helpful and very professional and we thank them very much for being there if we needed them.

Great holiday with Peninsula Villas : August 2022
Super experience with Peninsula Villas. We had to postpone twice due to covid, but they were very understanding and happy to rebook us. Villa Lazy Dayz in Yalikavak was superb, very well kept and clean and had everything you could need, including an excellent bbq and bbq area, which we made full use of. There were plenty of terraces around the villa to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the magnificent views across the bay, long into the evening. We also made good use of the lovely pool and comfortable sun loungers. A special mention to Marion, our Peninsula rep, who looked after us wonderfully well during our stay. Throughout our booking, Peninsula communicated everything we needed to know very well and answered all of our queries promptly. I will definitely be booking with them again.

It was an absolutely amazing stay from start to finish and everything was perfect : June 2022
I cannot recommend the Lazy Dayz villa enough, it was an absolutely amazing stay from start to finish and everything was perfect. We were met by the villa manager on arrival who was amazing and gave us lots of useful information on the local area. The villa was immaculate and very well furnished. It felt like a home from home environment and very modern and airy. The appliances all looked pristine and were easy to use.

We had a dishwasher, washer/dryer, cooker, microwave, coffee machine and fridge freezer. There were mini fridges in the upstairs bedroom and poolside which were very handy! The pool area also had a beautiful seating area and bbq which we all loved. We had access to beach and pool towels along with the comfiest dressing gowns. The pool was perfect size and very clean, this was my families favourite bit, we spent most of our time round the pool playing music and just spending quality family time together. There was plenty of things to do within the villa, and it had lots of games, books and TV with access to Netflix for evenings when the children were tired, these came in handy!

I honestly cannot recommend this villa enough, I would live here if I could! If you are considering renting here, please take this as a sign to just book it, I guarantee you will not regret it! Thank you so much for making our family trip not only enjoyable, but for helping create the best memories for our children!

The villa is amazing with everything you need and more : June 2022
This was our second visit to Yalikavak with Peninsula Villas and first time at Lazy Dayz after a 2 year delay - thank you Covid. Annie and her team organised it all beautifully from a booking service second to none with great communication to organising transfers to and from airport in luxurious vehicles.

The villa is amazing with everything you need and more, plenty of options for where to sit and relax or eat. Taxis are cheap into Yalikavak - about £3 each way. There is a small shop and supermarket through other villas but a steep hill back, about the only exercise we did all holiday! From road above villa steps at bottom of hill and a very short distance to the right right is a lovely traditional Turkish restaurant with views to the sea , very reasonable prices a 2 course meal for four with a couple of beers and wine was between £38 and £74 depending on your order - that’s for everyone.

Did a couple of supermarket runs via taxi, Migros in Koyunbaba has better choice and they will order a taxi back home too for you. Yalikavak Migros right opposite a taxi rank. We only left villa 4 times in 10 days as it was so perfect. A big thank you to Marion who looked after us while there and helped with initially ordering taxis and any questions we had to ask at the end of a phone or What’s App. All in all a perfect break and would not travel to the area again without Peninsula Villas. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

What a wonderful stay/Beautiful Views : June 2022
Could you please pass on to the owners what a wonderful stay we had at Lazy Dayz please. The villa was very comfortable and spotlessly clean on arrival and we were greeted by Marion who had been kind enough to do a small shop for us in addition to the welcome pack. Beautiful views, really comfortable and everything we required and more.
Marion is a treasure, recommending restaurants, ordering an initial taxi into town and advising us what to do when a taxi from Yali would not come out to Koyunbaba after a shopping expedition

This is our 2nd trip using Peninsula Villas Bodrum and we would not hesitate to use you again or recommend you to others.
The 2 year wait due to Covid was worth every minute.

Views are Unreal which meant Less Desire to Leave the Villa : August 2021
Firstly, thank you very much for everything, it was an exceptional few weeks at both villas we stayed in and we really appreciate your support.
Lazy was a different experience from the first villa. Here, we felt less desire to leave the villa. The view is unreal and the garden really nice to relax.
Location is also very good - actually benefits from being away from the traffic of the main centre.
Marion was amazing and was called into action a couple of times to fix the TV and Aircon, and responded perfectly.
AGAIN, A GREAT TIME AND WE WILL DEFINITELY USE YOU AGAIN, AND RECOMMEND YOU TO OTHERS!
Thanks so much Dave

Beautiful Villa, Great Service : September 2020
Just returned from a wonderful two weeks in the beautiful villa. We booked very last minute as we were let down by a cancellation of a booking that was made over a year ago by another well known company.
Annie at Peninsula Villas Bodrum was so helpful with arranging our booking to fit in with pre booked flights. On our arrival at the villa we were met by Marion, who had to stay up for our arrival at 3am. She was so bubbly and couldn't do enough for us. The villa was exceptionally clean and exactly as advertised. My daughter was celebrating her 40th birthday while there and couldn't believe the effort that Marion went to to make it such a memorable day .If your looking for a luxury villa and great service please don't hesitate to book with Peninsula Villas.

Lazy Dayz, The Most Perfect Villa : August 2020
We were super lucky to get a late booking for Lazydayz during the Covid craziness period. Annie was on the ball as ever & found us the most perfect Villa once again.
Marion who managed the villa could not have been more helpful, not simply with questions about the Villa, we were messaging her with questions regarding restaurants, beach clubs etc, nothing was too much trouble. Marion recommended a wonderful boat trip which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Peninsula organise everything you need including car hire or airport pick up, this time around we chose to rent a car directly from the airport, the drive to Yalikavak is beautiful & straight forward.
Lazy Dayz was immaculate & had everything you could ask for (not all Villas do) Lazy Dayz is clearly a much loved & cared for property, in the most perfect location with stunning views no matter which part of the Villa you are in.
Peninsula villas are super efficient, professional & friendly, I can not recommend them highly enough.
Thank you for everything Annie and team!

A Wonderful Holiday | May 2018
We had a wonderful holiday and Sara is the best manager and “carer” we had so far in these many years and holidays.
The house was very very nice and perfectly equipped but even when we had a problem Sara was of immediate assistance, so – just perfect.
Also the whole booking procedure was most friendly and structured and with a lot of helpful information. If we plan another holiday in this area we will definitely contact you first.

Paradise Found | September 2017
We all had a fabulous time at Lazy Dazy and the pictures and description of the villa hardly did it justice, as it really felt luxurious and as if we were in Paradise! Every bit of the booking process was handled so professionally by Annie of Peninsula Villas Bodrum and having the personal touch of another of their team, Sara, on the ground for help and advice made the whole experience effortless and they couldn't be more helpful in accommodating our needs and requests - what a dream team! We cannot wait to go back and would recommend booking in September as the holiday season is coming to an end so there were hardly any other holiday makers in the villas around us. Thanks Lazy Dazy!

Lazy Dayz with great viewz | July 2017
Had a great time relaxing at the villa with help at hand from Sara with any minor problems. Bedrooms and shower rooms were spot on although we had hot water issues initially Sara soon gave me info to sort out. Had a great boat trip with Capt Izzet and went to Datca by ferry for the day. Steep climb if on foot so would advise taxis at every opportunity. All in all a great place to chill and unwind.

Another wonderful holiday in Lazy Dayz and the Bodrum Peninsula | July/Aug 2016
This was our 4th year in Yalikavak, and our 3rd stay at Lazy Dayz, so I guess this already tells its own story. The Bodrum Peninsula is a wonderfully relaxed and pretty part of Southern Turkey, and Yalikavak and its surrounds epitomise this.

We had another great holiday, very much helped by the villa, its facilities and, of course, its unrivalled fantastic views. The locals in the area are incredibly warm and friendly and, with the range of eating out options available, it's a good base to explore or just to relax. Equally, for eating in, the range of supermarkets is excellent. Turkish breakfasts are a must and a boat trip is very much worthwhile. This time we also had a couple of fantastic days at a hotel 'beach club' in Gundogan. We do love the jetties! It is our intention to return to the Peninsula again and we would highly recommend Lazy Dayz for families wanting a relaxing getaway in a safe and easy place to access, but without the over-commercialisation sometimes seen in other resorts. We love the area for its "Turkishness" and often you'll go days without hearing another English voice. It's also worth finishing by mentioning the wonderful service that Sara (the villa manager) provides - no problem is too small and this adds a great level of reassurance.

Lovely villa with great views| September 2015
Our group of 3 couples stayed at Lazy Dayz for 2 weeks. The accommodation is ideal, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms which is not easy to find. The villa is well equipped and nicely furnished. The outside space is exceptionally good with plenty of shady seating areas and a nice pool. There are great views over the bay. We had a few issues with water pressure but Sara, the local manager, was extremely efficient and helpful and got the problem resolved. Although the area is more built up than we expected, the road is quiet and it is only a few minutes drive into Yalikavak. There are plenty of restaurants and beach clubs within easy reach. We booked through a very helpful Annie at Peninsula Villas and would happily do so again.

Beautiful views and great service | August 2015
We have just returned from an amazing three week stay at the Lazy Dayz villa in Yalikavak. Firstly, booking with Penninsula Villas was an absolutely seemless process and were very reassuring with regards to handling the booking and payments. I have been caught out before on a villa scam, but Annie from Pennisula went out of her way to ensure I felt secure with the booking. I can highly recommend them, They kept in touch, sent contracts, confirmed payments and even sent us a full pack of info before we arrived on the area, restaurants etc - really excellent service. We were introduced to Sara who looks after the villa in Turkey. She not only emailed me before our arrival, but met us in her car just outside the village and we followed her to the villa. She had supplied water, bread and milk etc. and was on call for the entire time to help us with boat trips, any issues we had etc. She was great! On to the villa - it was beautiful! The views were spectacular and I am still missing them. The furnishings inside and outside the villa were of very good quality and contemporary. Apart from a few issues with water pressure (but everything else more than made up for this niggle), it was pretty perfect!
